The purpose of this research was to find out the empirical evidence of the effectiveness of using short movie in teaching vocabulary to the seventh grade student of SMPN 24 Jakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year. The method used in this research was quantitative research with the main concentration onthe experiment study.The writers chose only one class for the experiment class as it is fit with the pre-experiment design. There were 35 students of VII-G for the sample participating in this research. The treatment was done from August 20th, 2019 until September 13rd, 2019, and it was conducted in 8 meetings, including the pre-test session, treatments, and the post-test session. The writer used normality and t-test in analyzing the data. The result of the research showed tobserved was 5.47, and ttable was 1.70as a result, the to was higher than t value of tt. Because to> tt, it means Ho was rejected and Hi was accepted. Therefore, it could be concluded that there was significant effectiveness in using short movie for teaching vocabulary to the seventh grade of SMPN 24 Jakarta.
