pengaruh variasi sudu tertutup terhadap kinerja kincir overshot
Giri Parwatmoko
kincir air tanpa tutup (T), kincir air sudu bagian atas tertutup 1/3 (T 1/3), kincir air sudu bagian atas
air sudu tertutup 2/3(T2/3) sebesar 33,53 %.

Effect of blade cap variation on Overshot pinwheel performance
Giri Parwatmoko
Waterwheels are a means of generating electrical energy in micro-hydro power plants, utilizing the
speed and height of waterways. The energy produced by a waterwheel depends on the blade
variations and the placement of the wheel, but significant losses occur due to wasted water. This
study investigates an overshot waterwheel with varying blade designs at the top to reduce losses and
assess their impact. The study uses one wheel with four variations: a waterwheel without a cover
(T), a waterwheel with the top blade closed 1/3 (T 1/3), a waterwheel with the top blade closed 1/2
(T 1/2), and a waterwheel with the top blade closed 2/3 (T 2/3). The wheel is made of mahogany
wood, and the blade covers are made of 3mm thick acrylic. The waterwheel was tested using pipes
with different flow rates: 1 m3/hour, 2 m3/hour, 3 m3/hour, 4 m3/hour, 5 m3/hour, and 6 m3/hour.
The efficiency of the waterwheel without a cover is greater than that of the variations with closed
blades. The study found that the waterwheel with 1/3 of the top blade closed (T 1/3) is more efficient,
with lower impact losses at 720.13 compared to the uncovered wheel (T) at 1251.90. The efficiency
of the waterwheel with 1/3 of the top blade closed (T 1/3) is significantly higher at 64.38%,
compared to the waterwheel with 2/3 of the top blade closed (T 2/3) at 33.53%. Therefore, the results
of this study indicate that the waterwheel with 1/3 of the top blade closed (T 1/3) is more
recommended due to its high efficiency and low impact losses.
