This research aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between
students' self-regulated learning and their speaking ability in grade 7 students of
SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta. The research method used is a quantitative method
with a correlation research design. The sample used was random sampling. There
were 25 valid statements and 2 invalid statements in the validity test. While the
reliability test with the Cronbach alpha formula obtained the results of 0.764> 0.6,
the data has a reliable instrument. Furthermore, the normality test using the onesample
Kolmogorov-Smirnov test obtained a significant value of 0.084> 0.5. It can
be concluded that the data is normally distributed. While the linearity test is used
by looking at the deviation from the linearity and getting the data value of 0.569>
0.05, the data is said to be linear. In the hypothesis test, Pearson product-moment
formula was used, and the value of rₒ 0.624 was higher than rₜ (0.396), so there is
a relationship between students' self-regulated learning and speaking skills.
Furthermore, for the significant test, a t-test was used, which obtained the value of
tₒ 3.833, greater than tₜ 1.713 with a significant value of 0.05. Therefore, it can be
stated that there is a significant influence on the relationship between students' selfregulated learning and their speaking skills.
