This study aims to determine and describe the relationship between students' interest in learning and their speaking achievement. This research was conducted because some students had deficiencies in their speaking achievement. The writer used the quantitative method to assess the relationship of two or more variables. This research involved 25 students from the eighth grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Jakarta. Data collection used two instruments, students’ interest questionnaire and a speaking test. the interest questionnaire has 25 questions with 5 interest indicators. while for the speaking test using interviews. The results of the research analysis show that there is a positive correlation between students' interest in learning and their speaking achievement with a correlation coefficient (xy): 0.920. Interest has an influence in the teaching and learning process. Students who have greater interest in speaking have better speaking achievement than students who have lower interest.
