The objectives of this research are to identify the levels of students' speaking anxiety, investigate the linguistic and psychological factors causing students’ speaking anxiety, and find the strategies to reduce students’ speaking anxiety. The researcher used a mixed method to describe and analyze the data. The samples in this research were 35 students of the tenth grade at SMK Budhi Warman 1. The researcher used FLCAS questionnaire which were adapted from Horwitz (1986) and interview in collecting the data. The results of this research showed that 3 (8.5%) students were in very anxious levels, 13 (37.1%) students were in anxious levels, 14 (40%) students were in mildly anxious levels, 4 (11.4%) students were in relaxed levels, and 1 (2.8%) student was in very relaxed level. Furthermore, after interviewing six highest anxiety students, the researcher found that there were several factors that caused speaking anxiety that were categorized into two types, which were linguistic and psychological factors. The linguistic factors were lack of vocabularies, poor pronunciation, fear of misunderstanding, and lack of preparation. The psychological factors were not self-confidence, fear of making mistakes, fear of negative evaluation, and negative overthinking. Last, the researcher formulated several strategies, namely; the students have to change their mindset and do not always overthink negatively, be brave and have high self- confidence, make well preparation before doing speaking performance, practice a lot to improve speaking ability, and teachers’ participation is also needed to reduce students’ anxiety.
