The Relationship between The Learning Interest and English Learning Achievement of the Eighth-grade students’ of SMPN 157 Jakarta in the Second Semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year

The objective of the research was to find empirical evidence of whether or not there is relationship between the learning interest and English learning achievement at the eighth-grade students of SMPN 157 Jakarta in the second semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.
The method of this study was quantitative method. The subject of the research was 8th C class students which consists of 30 students chosen by random cluster sampling technique. The instruments used for this research were interests questionnaire that consists 20 items with 5-point Likert-Scale and the English learning score. The score of two variables were analyzed by using the Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation.
Based on the data analysis, it was found that r-observed = 0.468 and r-table = 0.3. It can be seen that r- observed is higher than r-table. It means Ho is rejected and Hi is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between learning interest and English learning achievement of the eighth-grade students’ of SMPN 157 Jakarta in the second semester of the 202/2021 academic year.
