The Relationship Between Stidents' Motivation and Their Writing Ability at The Eight Grades Students of SMPN 51 Jakarta in The 2021/2022 Academic Year

The research aims to determine whether eighth-grade students at SMPN 51 Jakarta are motivated to write. April 2022 began the research. 320 students were studied. The writer assumed similar English scores. The writer chose a random class of VIII 5 with 40 students as a sample for this research. The instruments used to collect data were a motivation survey and a writing test. Moment Correlation was used to calculate the score.
Pearson Product Moment calculations showed ro = 0.354 and rt = 0.312 at 0.05 significance. ro = 0.354 > rt = 0.312, according to the correlation analysis. Ha is accepted, but Ho isn't. That means 8th grade SMPN 51 Jakarta students' motivation and descriptive writing ability are related. t-test determines whether a correlation is significant. tt > 2.33 > 1.69 SMPN 51 Jakarta 8th graders' motivation and descriptive text ability are related.
This research should help students with descriptive writing. This research can also motivate the teacher before teaching. The writer knows motivation affects students' descriptive writing skills. It also benefits the school by helping students improve subjects other than writing text.
