The objective of this research is to find the empirical evidence of the effectiveness of picture dictionary to enhance students’ vocabulary for the seven grade students of SMPN 02 Cidahu in improving students’ vocabulary. The writer used Quasi-experimental method. The population of this research was all the seven grade students of SMPN 02 Cidahu. The numbers of students are 180 students, who are distributed into VII A, VII B, VII C, VII D, VII E, VII F, each of which consist of 30 students. The sample were taken two classes of the seven grade students. The writer took 62 students for the sample of the quasi-experiment. One class is control class, and Second class is experiment class. The data that the writer got from the research were using the uji-wilcoxon to know the technique.
The finding of this research shows that there is a significant improvement of the students’ vocabulary through picture dictionary. The

hypothesis in this study uses the Mann-Whitney test with the Asymp Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.000. It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected because 0.000 < 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is an effect of learning vocabulary using picture books on the learning outcomes of class VII students of SMPN 02 Cidahu.
