The objective of this study is to find out whether the effectiveness of Instagram to increase the students’ writing ability at the tenth grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 15 South Jakarta. This study was conducted by using pre-experimental research. The sample of this study were the students at the tenth grade of Multimedia in SMK Muhammadiyah 15 South Jakarta in the academic year of 2021/2022. The number of them as the sample is consist of 20 students.
According to the findings of this study, the students' mean score on the pre-test was 67.47, which is considered a reasonably high classification. The students' mean score on the post-test was thus higher than the pre-test, at 77.52, placing them in the good category. Furthermore, based on the data analysis, the t-test result is higher than the t-table value (10.810>1.729) at the level of significance 0.05 and the degree of freedom (df) = 20. That there has been a significant increase. As a result, H0 is rejected and H1 is approved. In other words, Instagram is effective to increase the writing abilities of tenth-grade students at SMK Muhammadiyah 15 South Jakarta.
