The objective of this study is to find whether or not there is a the relationship between the habit of watching English movies and speaking ability of the students of SMA Teratai Putih Global School Bekasi in the
2020-2021 academic year.
The method of this study was a quantitative method of a correlational approach to analyze the relationship between the habit of watching English movies and the speaking ability. The data were collected in a form of the habit of watching English questionnaire and a score of speaking ability. The sample of this study were the students of SMA Teratai Putih Global Bekasi. The results showed that 9 out of 25 students have a low habit of watching English movies scores, 8 students have an average habit of watching English movies scores, 7 students have a good habit of watching English movies scores, and 1 students have a very high habit of watching English movies scores. The result of the Pearson’s Product Moment correlation calculation found that ro > rt (ro=3,86, rt=0.413, df=23, p=0.05), meanwhile the significance test also shows that to > tt (to = 4,97 , tt = 685, df = 24, p=0.05). From the result of the calculation above, Hi is accepted and Ho rejected. It means there is correlation between the habit of watching English movies and students’ speaking ability.
From the findings of the study, the writer concludes that there is a the relationship between the habit of watching English movies and speaking ability of the students of SMA Teratai Putih Global School Bekasi in the 2020-2021 academic year.
