This research aimed to find out the primary self-efficacy source that influences Indonesian EFL students' performance in English public speaking at the public speaking class of the fourth-semester students of the English study program. This research also aimed to find out how students of the English Public Speaking domain build their self-efficacy. The participants are 32 fourth-semester public speaking class students in The Study Program of English Education of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka University of classes 4C and 4D. The researcher used the descriptive qualitative method in this study. The result indicated that Psychological and Affective States turned out to be the primary self-efficacy source that influences students' performance in English Public Speaking (EPS) class out of the four sources. The result also showed that students came up with various strategies and efforts to build their self-efficacy. The efforts include relying on teachers' feedback to inspire them, looking up to their friends in the hopes of one day copying them by seeing them give an outstanding presentation, seeking recognition from their peers, and others relying on their ability to control physical and emotional stress reactions.
