This research investigated about students’ perception on the utilization of
Zoom Video Conferencing in improving speaking ability amidst COVID-19
outbreak. This research aimed to obtain valid evidence about EFL students own
decent insight on the utilization of Zoom Video Conferencing for sharpening their
speaking competences. This research employed Quantitative Approach by
implementing close-ended and open-ended questionnaires. Also, this research
involved 102 participants from 11 schools in Jakarta and 16 schools from Bekasi.
The researcher distributed the survey through the participants’ personal messages
in WhatsApp. After assembling the data, the researcher utilized SPSS version 20.8
to calculated the Cronbach Alpha of the data and Microsoft Excel to find the total
of obtained data. Later, it was discovered that Zoom can help the students to sharpen their positive attitudes and speaking skills. Zoom also facilitates students and teachers to have direct communication, discussion, and teaching and learning
process with its features as the face-to-face classroom owns.
