The objective of the research was to find the empirical evidence whether it is a relationship between students' speaking anxiety and their gender, also analysis of the most factors that provoking to students' speaking anxiety of the sixth and eight semester students of University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka of the 2020/2021 Academic Year.
The data was collected from July 28th until July 11th 2021. The population of the research were the students from sixth semester and eight semester which consist around 269 students, but for the sample of this research was 73 students, consist of 43 of female, and 30 of male. The method of this research is quantitative method with the correlation design. The instrument used for collecting the data were through the questionnaires of PSCAS (Public Speaking Class Anxiety Scale) adopted from Yaikong & Usaha (2012). The score of the two were analyzed by using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation.
From the data analysis, the result of r-observed 0.28, and the researcher used the sig 5% so that the significances of r-table is 0.23. It means r-observed is higher than r-table (ro = 0.28 > rt = 0.23). Moreover, based the calculated of the t-test it found the t-observed is 2.46 and the t-table is 1.99, so the t-observed is higher than t-table (to = 2.46 > rt =1.99). It means Ho (null hypotheses) is rejected and Hi is accepted. Therefore, there is significant between students’ gender and their speaking anxiety of the students on the sixth and eighth semester of English Education Department of University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka on The Academic Year of 2020/2021. By means of the medium level of anxiety with the most provoking Fear of Negative Evaluation.
