The purpose of the research was to get the empirical data of whether or not there is a relationship between the reading motivation in English and the reading achievement of the seventh-grade students of SMPN 4 South Tambun in the 2020/2021 academic year. The research was started in March and finished in May 2021.
The sample of the research was VII.5, and the participants consisted of 35 students. The method was quantitative data by using a questionnaire to obtain the motivation and descriptive text test data for measuring the reading achievement.
The finding of the research showed that calculation of correlation analysis by Pearson Product Moment was (ro) 1.09 higher than (rt) 0.32 in the level significance P = 0.05 with n = 35, then to be continued to figure our significance analysis whose result was (to) 14.42 higher than (tt) 1.70. it means that there was a significant relationship between reading motivation in English and reading achievement.
