The Content Validity of the English Summative Test for the Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 27 Jakarta in The First Semester of the 2017/2018 Academic Year

The objective of the research was to find empirical evidence whether or not the content of the English summative test for the second grade students of SMPN 276 Jakarta in the first semester of the 2017-2018 academic year has been valid. The research used the comparative descriptive analysis method. In this study, the writer compared the English summative test with the learning materials and the objectives based on syllabus of 2013 Curriculum. The instruments were in the forms of checklists which were arranged based on the materials and objectives in the syllabus of 2013 curriculum. The materials and objectives of each language skills were identified and arranged into some lists which were changed into questions as the instruments to collect data. The data was calculated by using the statistical formula of P = F/N x 100% and interpreted by using a scheme of conformity form Arikunto’s scheme of the validity level. From the data analysis, the writer found that the English summative test which was administered at SMPN 276 Jakarta was in line with the content of syllabus. The percentage of the materials in the reading skill materials was 83.3%, and the writing materials was 83.3%. The indicator of the reading skill was 60% and the writing skill was 66.6%. Therefore, the calculation the percentage of all skills was 73.3%. Based on Arikunto’s scheme of the conformity level, it means that the content validity of the English summative test for the first semester of the second grade students at SMPN 27 Jakarta in 2017-2018 academic year has been valid.
