An Item Analysis of the English Summative Test of the Seventh Grade Students of SMP PERWIRA JAKARTA in the First Semester of the 2015/2016 Academic Year

The purpose of the study was to know whether the English summative test items for the seventh grade students of SMP PERWIRA JAKARTA 2015/2016 academic year have good quality in terms of difficulty level and discriminatingpower. The respondents of this research were 60 students of the seventh grade students on SMP PERWIRA JAKARTA 2015/2016 academic year. The writer arranged the students’ answer sheets score based on the students’ total score. Then the students’ answer sheets score were ranked from the highest to the lowest and taken 25% (15 students) for upper group and 25% (15 students) for lower group. Based on the analysis of the data in this research, the writer concludes test items that the English summative test, which is administrated in SMP PERWIRA JAKARTA are good enough. It happened because from 50 items, there are 32 items which are accepted, 11 items are rejected and 7 items must be revised. As a result, the good item can be used as English final test or as the reference for the following test.
