The writer of this study would like to find out the dominant kinds of
motivation and the most influential factors on the students speaking in English.
The writer used the qualitative approach as the methodology through
questionnaire and interview to collect the data. The questionnaire consisted of 32
statements, they are the kind of motivation and the factors that influence the
motivation. In this study, there were 47 participants which is taken from the
second grade at SMK Farmasi Harapan Masa. The result of the study showed
that the students were more integrative motivation rather than instrumental
motivation. Moreover, the most influential factor on the student’s motivation was
the teacher
