The aim of this study to find out whether the English summative test of
SMP Negeri 163 Jakarta for the eighth grade students in the first semester in the
2018/2019 academic year has a good face validity or not. In finding out the
quality of the face validity, the writer has conducted a qualitative analysis method.
The instrument is in the form of checklist table which was arranged based on
Harmer, Sumarsono, Brown criteria of face validity. The population in this
research is 45 items of multiple choices.
Based on the analysis of the quality of face validity, it shows that the
summative test at SMP 163 does not have good face validity since the proportion
is 11-45% it is bad, less and sufficient. According to Suharsimi, if the conformity
level of the face validity in 0-20% it is said as bad, 21-40% it is said as less and
41-60% it is said as sufficient test.
It means that, the analysis of the English summative test of SMP Negeri
163 Jakarta for the eighth grade students in the first semester in the 2018/2019
academic year does not have good face validity
