ANISATUROMAH.NIM:1501059016. An Error Analysison the Students’ Writing Recount Text of the Eighth Grade of SMPN 150 Jakarta. A paper: The Study Programme of English Education,The School of Teacher Training and Education,The University of Muhammadiyah Prof.DR. Hamka (UHAMKA).
The research was held at SMPN 150 Jakarta.The objective of the study are: to find out the typical types of errors, to know the sources of errors ,and to share remedial task for the students’ error at the eighth Grade of SMPN150 Jakarta in2017/2018 AcademicYear in their recount writing.The samples of this study were 30 at G eighth Class.The writer asked to the students to make or compose a recount writing in their writing that task has been given.
The results of the of the study showed that most types of error which the students made were verb tense(21.56%),add word(17.64%), capitalization(15.08%),omit a word(12.36%), word choice(12.21%), spelling (5.27%),word order(5.12%),punctuation (5%),singular-plural (2.11%),meaning not clear(1.65%),incomplete sentence(1.05%), word form (0.45%), article (0.30%),and run-on sentence (0.15%).For the sources of errors are intralingual transfer errors(63.65%)and interlingual transfer errors(36.34%).
Based on the result,the writer concluded that the most common type of error made by the students was verb tense and the most source of error made by the students was intralingual transfer.The refore, it is important for the English teacher to explain more and give practice related to the errors committed by the students especially verb tense because it has the highest number in order to develop the students’ skill in writing English text.
