The objective of this study was to find out whether the English summative test items for the tenth grade students of SMA Keluarga Widuri has good quality or not in the terms of the facility value or difficulty level, discriminating power, and the effectiveness of options. The test was held in SMA Keluarga Widuri in May 20th 2019.
The summative test consisted of 35 multiple choice items. The sample of respondents of this research are 44 students which are divided into 27% (12 students) of upper group and 27% (12 students) of lower group. In analyzing the difficulty level and discriminating power, the writer used the formula suggested by J.B Heaton to analyze the difficulty level and discriminating power.
The result of the data analysis showed that there were 6 easy items, 26 medium items, and 3 difficult items from the 35 items. In the terms of discriminating power, it was discovered from the 35 items. There were 29 accepted items and 6 revised items. Based on the result of the difficulty level and discriminating power, it can be concluded that the English summative test has fulfilled the criteria of a good quality. The benefits of the study result can help teacher to find out whether or not the test can be categorized as a good test in terms of difficulty level, the discriminating power of the test items and the effectiveness of distractor for making a good test of English Summative test for the first semester of tenth grade students of SMA Keluarga Widuri Jakarta.
