The objective of this research was to find out the quality of the English summative test for the eighth grade students of SMP An-Nurmaniyah Tangerang in the second semester of the 2017/2018 academic year whether or not is good in terms of the facility value, discriminating power and the effectiveness of distracters. The method of this research was descriptive-qualitative and quantitative method. The descriptive-qualitative method was used for describing the test items’ qualities and weakness. Meanwhile, the quantitative method was used for analyzing the item difficulty level and discriminating power. The numbers of population were 210 students from 6 classes. However, the writer only took 2 classes as samples that consist of 69 students (35 students from 8.1 and 34 other students are from 8.4). Those 69 students’ answer sheets are divided into two groups; 27% upper group and 27% lower group. The writer used the formula suggested by Heaton to analyze the facility value and discriminating power. It is found from 35 multiple choice items that 29 items are maintained, 4 items are revised and 2 items are rejected. Based on the result of facility value, there are 30% of easy level items, 63% of medium level items, and 6,7% of difficult level items. However, from the discriminating power, there are 10% of excellent items, 50% of good items, 23% of satisfactory items, and 17% of poor items. And from the effectiveness of distracters is 28% of very good distracters, 33% of good distracters, 17% of moderate distracters, 19% of poor distracters and the last is 3% of very poor distracters. The writer concludes that the English summative test for the eighth grade students of SMP An-Nurmaniyah Tangerang in the second semester of the 2017/2018 academic year is categorized as a good test in terms of difficulty lever, discriminating power and the effectiveness of distracter.
