The main purpose of this study is to get the empirical evidence of the
answer to the problem formulation; it is whether of the English Summative test of
the seventh grade students of the first semester of SMAN 90 Jakarta in the
2016/2017 academic year is reliable or not. The writer used parallel test form
technique in estimating the reliability. The first test was administered on
December 9th, 2016 and the parallel test was administered on December 23th,
2016.
In collecting data, the writer used a survey method using correlation
technique, and for the sampling technique used simple random sampling.
Then, the population respondents of this research were the eleventh grade
students of SMAN 90 Jakarta. The writer took 34 students of one class for the
sample of the research. The data which the writer got from the research were
analyzed using the Pearson’s Product Moment Analysis formula.
Based on the data analysis, it was found the observed coefficient (ro) was
0.40, and the value of the table of r-distribution, (rt) was 0.34. Because the ro > rt Ho was rejected and Hi was accepted. It gives empirical evidence to the writer to make a conclusion that the English summative test for the eleventh grade students of SMAN 90 Jakarta in the first semester of the 2016/2017 Academic Year is RELIABLE.
