The objectives of the study was to get the empirical evidence of the English summative test for the ninth grade students of SMP An-Nurmaniyah Tangerang for the first semester in 2017/2018 academic year focused on face validity and language aspects, whether or not it has a good face validity. The method of this study was qualitative. In qualitative method, the writer analyzed the appearance of the English summative test. The population used objectives and essay test, but the samples just objective. The findings in this part is composed in four sections, they are the heading, instructions, reading texts and items of the test. Every section has been analyzed from the aspects of the lay-out, mechanic of typing, language aspect, other(s). As the result of the study on the analysis of face validity, the writer found that the heading had one face validity was the same with 1%, the instructions had zero valid or 0% those twenty two instructions were not valid was the same with 25%, while for the reading texts, they had six face valid was the same with 7% and fifteen things or 18% were not valid and the last was the items, there were twenty one items which were valid is the same with 24% and nineteen or 24% items were not valid . So, the total were twenty eight valid was the same with 33% and fifty eight or 67% were not valid in analyzing face validity. Because there are more invalid rather than valid, it could be concluded the English summative test for the ninth grade students of SMP An-Nurmaniyah Tangerang for the first semester in 2017/2018 academic year did not have good face validity. The benefits of this study can give new knowledge for the teacher to decrease mistakes in making a test.
