The objective of the study was to find out the empirical evidence of the reliability of English summative test for the seventh grade students of SMP ISLAM AL MAKIYAH Jakarta in the first semester of the 2016/2017 academic year.
This study uses quantitative method. The population respondents of the study were 21 of the seventh grade students of SMP ISLAM AL MAKIYAH Jakarta. The writer took 21 students as the sample respondent of the study. The technique of data analysis was analyzed by using the Pearson’s Product Moment and Lilliefors. The data of the study were students’ score and parallel test which the data needed. After analyzing the data, the writer got result that robserved (ro) = 0.506, with the level significance 0.05 and df 21-2 = 19, (0.506 > 0.433). Ho was rejected and Hi was accepted. Because robserved is higher than rtable. It could be concluded that the English summative test was reliable. From the significance correlation analysis, the writer will do the further analysis by using t test to find out how the significant correlation between X and Y variable. The writer was found that tobserved was 2.55 and ttable was 1.73. It meant that tobserved > ttable (2.55 > 1.73), so tobserved was on Ho rejected area or Hi was accepted. It could be concluded that there is a significant reliable test.
From the result above it can be said that the English summative test for the seventh grade students of SMP ISLAM AL MAKIYAH Jakarta in the first semester of the 2016/2017 academic year was reliable. The benefit of the research is expected to provide information for teachers to make English summative test especially on reliability test. Moreover, the result of the research will help students to get an appropriate test. It is a good for students to memorize the item of English summative test, thus they will know deeper and more familiar with the test.
