The Reliability of English Summative Test for the Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 48 Jakarta in the Second Semester of the 2017/2018 Academic Year

The objective of the research is to get the empirical evidence of the
reliability of the English summative test for the eleventh grade students of SMAN
48 Jakarta in the second semester of the 2017/2018 academic year. The research is
held in SMAN 48 Jakarta located at Jl. Pinang Ranti No. 1 Makasar, East Jakarta
and the English summative test was administered on Tuesday, 5th June 2018. The
writer used quantitative method in this research. Quantitative that is used for this
research is Pearson Product Moment’s correlation to correlate both English
summative test score and parallel test score. The population respondent of this
research were 285 students of the eleventh grade divided in eight classes. The
writer used purposive sampling in order to take the sample class to get the sample
respondent. The sample respondent of this research were 36 students from class
XI MIA 3.
The writer used parallel test to estimate the reliability of the test. The
research findings that robserved = 0,335 and rtable = 0,329. Because the robserved >
rtable, it means that there is a corrrelation between the English summative test score
and parallel test score for the eleventh grade students of SMAN 48 Jakarta in the
second semester of the 2017/2018 academic year.
From the statement above, it can be concluded that the English summative
test for the eleventh grade students of SMAN 48 Jakarta in the second semester of
the 2017/2018 academic year is reliable. This research can give the important for
the teacher to understand how to make a good test.
