The objective of the research was to find the relationship between students’ mastery of simple past tense and writing recount text. This research was conducted at SMA Islam Annajah, South Jakarta, at the first semester, the 10th grade classes in the 2015/2016 academic year. The samples of this research are 35 students which are taking of 1 class in the 35 students. This research implemented it uses Pearson’s Product Moment analysis to get correlation between the data of both of variables. The result of correlation analysis (robserved) was 0, 96 higher than (rtable) was 0, 334, it can be conclude that there is a relationship between students’ mastery of simple past tense and writing recount text. The data of significant analysis (tobserved) was 19,67 higher than (ttable) was 1,70, it can be conclude that there is a significant between students’ mastery of simple past tense and writing recount text.
