The objective of the study is to find empirical evidence of the English summative
test items for the eighth students of SMP Negeri 215 Jakarta in the first semester
of 2017/2018 academic year had a quality of a good test in term of the difficulty
level, discriminating power, and the effetiveness of the distractors. The methods
used in this study were descriptive quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Descriptive quantitative method was used to analyze the data of the difficulty
level, discriminating power, and the effetiveness of distractors. Meanwhile, the
qualitative analysis was used to describe the quality and the weaknesses of the test
items. Based on the data description and analysis, the findings of this research is that the English summative test for the eighth grade students of SMPN 215 Jakarta in the first semester of the 2017/2018 academic year did not have good quality of test in terms of facility value, discriminating power and the effectiveness of distractors.
