The purpose of this research is to find out the empirical data which
supports the reliability between the teacher made-English summative test with the
English summative test. The hypothesis which is proposed in this research is “The
teacher-made English summative test for the seventh grade students is reliable”.
This research was held at the seventh grade students of MTs N 22 Jakarta on the
first semester in 2015/2016 academic year. The sample consists of 35 students.
This research used analysis method. The instruments used in this research are the
English summative test and a parallel test which is made based on KTSP
curriculum and the English syllabus of the seventh grade student. Before
analyzing the data, the writer has tested with normality test using Chi square.
The normality test of English summative test χ2
observed = 3.8 < χ2
table = 7.81
whereas for parallel test χ2
observed = 2.40 < χ2
table = 9.49, so it can be concluded that
both of population are normally distributed. The hypothesis testing in this research
is the reliability analysis by using Pearson’s product Moment, the writer gets
robserved = 0.828 > rtable = 0.334, it means H0 is rejected and Hi is accepted. It can
be concluded that the English Summative Test made by teacher in MTs N 22
Jakarta on the first semester is reliable.
The benefit of this research is expected to provide information for
teachers about teacher-made English summative test especially on reliability test.
Moreover, the result of this research will help students to get an appropriate test.
It is good for students to comprehend the items of English summative test, thus
they will know deeper and familiar with the test.
