The objective of the study was to know the quality of the English summative test for the eleventh grade students at SMK Prestasi Prima Jakarta and to identify the test item, which were needed to be maintained, revised, or discarded.
The methods used in this research were descriptive quantitative and qualitative method. Quantitative method was used for analyzing the facility value, discriminating power, and the effectiveness of distracter of each item. Meanwhile, the qualitative method was used for describing the quality and the weakness of the items. The writer took 54 students’ answer sheet as the data; then the writer ranked the students from the highest to the lowest score and took 27% from the highest score as the upper group and 27% from the lowest score as the lower group. Each group consisted of 14 respondents.
Based on the analysis of this research, the English summative test which was administered at SMK Prestasi Prima Jakarta were not good test. Based on the difficulty level result, there are 7 items (17.5%) are categorized as the easy level, 28 items (70%) can be categorized as the medium level, and there are 5 items (12.5%) can be categorized as the difficult level. According to Sudjana, the proportion of a good test are 25% easy : 50% medium : 25% difficult. In terms of the discriminating power there are 26 items (65%) maintained, there are 4 items (10%) should be revised and 10 items (25%) need to be discarded. It can be concluded that the English summative test for the eleventh grade students of the SMK Prestasi Prima Jakarta in the 2015/2016 academic year has not fullfilled the criteria of a good test.
