The aims of the study was to find out the empirical evidence about the relationship between the motivations in learning English and the reading skills of the second semester students. It was a quantitative survey on the eleventh grade of SMAN 4 Pandeglang. It was conducted at SMAN 4 Pandeglang on May, 5th-12th 2017. The population of respondents was 380 students from which the writer took 38 individuals as the samples. The instruments used were in two kinds. The first were questionnaires to collect the data of the students‘ motivation in learning English and, the second, tests for getting the data of the students‘ reading skills. The scores were calculated by using Pearson‘s Product Moment which gave the result that the ro = 0.977. In the critical values of ―r‖ in the table with 0.05 significance level and with n = 33, the rt = 0.344. Thus, the result of the r-observed (ro= 0.977 ) was higher than r-table (rt 0.344 Therefore the Ho was rejected and Hi was accepted. It gave a proof that there has been a positive relationship between students‘ motivation in learning English and their reading skills.
