This study was held at SMP Asrama Al-Fath Bekasi. The objective of the study is to find the empirical evidence of the most common types of errors and sources of errors in the descriptive writing made by the eighth grade students of SMP Asrama Al-Fath Bekasi in the 2016/2017 academic year. The samples of this study were 20 students at VIII. 2.
The writer used descriptive analytical method. The writer found that the most typical errors that have been done by the students was Capitalization with 261 or (28,4%). The next errors were Singular plural with 101 or 11%. The third position is Punctuation with 83 or (9%). The three down typical errors are Word Form with 27 or (2,9%). Incomplete Sentence with 18 or (1,9%). Run on Sentence with 9 or (0,9%). Meanwhile, the biggest sources of errors was Generalization with 129 or (42,7%), Incomplete Application of Rules with 70 or (23,2%), ignorance of Rule Restriction with False Concept Hypotesized with 19 or (6,2%).
