The study was aimed to find out the reliability of an English Summative
Test for the Eighth Grade Students of the First Semester of MTs Ummul Quro Al-
Islamic Language Boarding School, Bogor in 2012-2013 Academic Year. This
research was held in February 2013 in MTs Ummul Quro Al-Islamic Language
Boarding School, Bogor. The writer used a quantitative method in this research.
The population of this study is about 300 students from 6 classes of the eighth
grade. The sample of the research was choosen one class, VIII A that containts 50
students. The objects of the research were English Summative Test. The writer
used the equivalent form technique to estimating the reliability of the test and
calculates the correlation of odd numbers and even numbers scores in the
summative test by using Pearson’s Product Moment and t-Test. The result of the
analysis the writer got ro = 0.983 with the significant standard 0.05 rt = 0.279.
Since ro > rt (0.983 > 0.279), so Hi is accepted and H0 is rejected. It means that
there was a significant correlation between odd number group and even number
group in the English Summative test item for the eighth grade students of MTs
Ummul Quro Al-Islamic Language Boarding School, Bogor in 2012-2013
academic year. From the statement above, it can be concluded that the English
summative test for the eighth grade students of the first semester of MTs Ummul
Quro Al-Islamic Language Boading School, Bogor in 2012-2013 academic year is
reliable. This research can give the important information for the teacher to
understand how to make a good test.
