SMP Islam Al-Istiqomah in the 2017/2018 Academic Year. A paper: The Study

The objective of the research is to find the empirical evidence of whether
or not simulation technique in the teaching of the speaking skill to the eighth
grade students of SMP Islam Al-Istiqomah in the 2017/2018 academic year is
effective. The writer used pre-experiment method. The population of this research
was the eighth grade students of SMP Islam Al-Istiqomah. The samples were
taken from one class of eighth grade by using purposive cluster sampling. It was
class VIII A of SMP Islam Al-Istiqomah which consisted of 25 students. The data
which the writer obtained from the research were calculated by using the t-test
formula.
Based on the data analysis, it was found that the tobserved (to) 9.02 and the
value of the table of t-distribution, ttable (tt ) was 1.71. Because t0 > tt , it means that
the Ho was rejected and the 𝐇𝐢 was accepted. It gave empirical evidence to the
writer to come to a conclusion that simulation technique in the teaching of the
speaking skill to the eighth grade students of SMP Islam Al-Istiqomah was
effective.
The research result benefit, the writer concluded that simulation technique
in the teaching speaking is quite success and can run well in the class situation. In
order to help students to speak English or express their thought in English easily,
simulation technique prepares the student with the various „real-life‟ situation.
They feel more comfortable and enjoy doing the activities in the class. It gives
students the opportunities to be active in developing the speaking skill.
