The objective of the study is to find out whether or not the English
summative test to the first semester for the first semester grade students of SMKN
4 Depok was categorized into a good test based on the difficulty level, and the
discriminating power. The study was conducted at SMKN 4 Depok, started from
16th December until 17th December, 2016. After analyzing the difficulty level,
there were the 17 (42.5%) items for the easy level, the 18 (45%) items for the
medium level, and the 5 (12.5%) items for the difficulty level. For the items of the
discriminating power, it found that the 40 multiple choice items consisting of both
35 accepted items and 5 (12.5%) revised items. Based on the results of the
difficulty level and the discriminating power, it showed that the test fulfilled the
criteria of a good test. Principally, this analysis had the two significances to give
the information to the teacher or test maker how to make the good test item,
especially on English test and to give the new ideas for reader in constructing the
good test.
