The purpose of this research was to getthe empiricalabout the
relationshipbetween vocabularyand students’ reading comprehension. The
population of the research were 60 students used30 students became the samples
of the research. This reserachmethod in collectingdata and using test
instrumentthe writer did the research with a survey technique.
According to the result of the analysis and statistical calculation, it was
found the ro 0.602 with the critical value at the 0,05significance level was 0,361.
According to the table of Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation it can be
conclude that ro > rt = 0.602> 0.361. it shows that Howas rejected and Hi was
accepted. So, there was a significant.relationship between Vocabulary Mastery
and their Reading Comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP Nusantara
1 Tangerang.
It means that having more vocabulary mastery significantlyaffectss the
comprehension of the students’reading activity. Moreover, by having many
vocabularies the students can easily get information and fun story written in
English which finally can enrich their knowledge by reading a lot of books.
