The objective of the study was to find out whether or not the English
summative test to the first semester for the first semester grade students of MA
Annida Al-Islamy Jakarta Barat was categorized into a good test based on the
difficulty level, the discriminating power and the effectiveness of distracters. The
study was conducted at MA Annida Al-Islamy Jakarta Barat, started from 17th
June until 18th June, 2015.After analyzing the difficulty level, there were the 7
items for the easy level, the 37 items for the medium level, and the 6 items for the
difficulty level. For the items of the discriminating power, it was found that the 50
multiple choice items consisting of both 46 accepted items and 4 revised items.
Based on the results of the difficulty level and the discriminating power, it showed
that the test fulfilled the criteria of a good test. Principally, this analysis had the
two significances to give the information to the teacher/ test maker how to make
the good test item, especially on English test and to give the new ideas for the
readers in constructing the good test.
