The objective of the study was to find out the empirical evidence whether or not the English summative test for the tenth grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Jakarta in the first semester in the 2016-2017 academic year was in line with the English syllabus of 2013 curriculum, the study used descriptive comparative analysis method. In this case, the writer compared the English summative test item content with the learning materials and objectives based on the syllabus of the 2013 curriculum. The instruments were the form of checklist based on both materials and syllabus of the 2013 curriculum. The materials of each language skill were identified and arranged into the lists. They are changed into the questions for the instrument of the study.
From the analysis, the writer found that the content validity of the English summative test which was administered on SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Jakarta was quite appropriate with the syllabus content of 2013 Curriculum. The percentage of the calculation of the English material of summative test for the tenth grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 East Jakarta of the 2016/2017 academic year is 25%. Then, the indicator of reading skill was 71%, the indicator of writing skill was 30%,. Meanwhile, the indicators of listening and speaking were 0%. Therefore, the calculation of all percentages was 42%. Based on Arikunto’s scheme, it can be concluded that the content validity of the teacher-made English summative test for the tenth grade students in the first semester of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Jakarta has been fair. The benefit of the research result was to help the teacher to arrange and make a good test.
It can be concluded that the content validity of the English summative test of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 east Jakarta is fair a. Hopefully, the English summative test can be improved. Related to this, the teachers know how to analyze the content validity of the English summative test.
