The objective of the research was to find out the empirical evidence on the
effectiveness of using video in teaching vocabulary for the seventh grade students
of SMP YAPIDA. The data were taken on October 10 up to November 28, 2016.
The population of this research was the students of SMP YAPIDA Bogor. The
writer used pre-experimental method which the writer used only one class as the
object of the research. The writer administered pre-test before the treatment to
find out the students level of vocabulary. After the treatment, the writer
administered a post-test to see whether or not the teaching vocabulary using video
was effective. The data that the writer got from the research were analyzed by
using t-test formula. From the computation of the data, it was found the (to) 12.49
from df (29) on degree of significance level was 1.70. Because to > tt it means the
Ho was rejected and the Hi was accepted. Therefore, it could be concluded that
there was effectiveness of using video in teaching vocabulary for the seventh
grade students of SMP YAPIDA Bogor in the 2016/2017 academic year. Based
on the finding of study, it could be sum up that to increase vocabulary by using
video was quite success and could run well in the class situation. Through video,
the students could feel more comfortable and enjoyable doing activities in the
class. It gave students the opportunities to be active in developing vocabulary
mastery.
