The objective of the study was to get empirical data of the reading exercises in
textbook entitled PATHWAY TO ENGLISH for the eleventh grade of SMA
Negeri 35 Jakarta, whether or not the textbook was suitable with the 2013
Curriculum. The method that the writer used in this research was a descriptive
comparative analysis. The writer compared the reading exercises in the book
entitled PATHWAY TO ENGLISH for the eleventh grade with the English syllabus
of 2013 Curriculum. The reading exercises included the reading sub skills,
reading materials, and reading activities. The instrument of this research was a
checklist which contained the concordance between the reading exercises in the
textbook PATHWAY TO ENGLISH with the English syllabus of 2013 Curriculum.
The research findings showed that the average percentage of the reading exercises
in the textbook which was relevant with the 2013 Curriculum was 86%. In other
words, the level of conformity was very good. Therefore, it could be inferred that
the reading materials in the textbook were relevant with the 2013 Curriculum.
