The objective of the study was to know the quality of the English
summative test item for the second semester of the tenth grade students at SMAN
64 Cipayung Raya East Jakarta and to identify which items are needed to be
accepted, revised, and rejected. The method of the research is quantitative and
qualitative analysis methods. Quantitative analysis was used for analyzing the
data of difficulty level, discriminating power, and the effectiveness of distracter of
each item. Meanwhile, the qualitative analysis was used to describe the quality of
item. The sampling of this research is the tenth grade students of SMAN 64
Cipayung Raya East Jakarta around 72 students for the 2 classes, answer sheet as
the data; then, the writer ranked the students from the highest to the lowest score.
Based on the analysis of the research, showed that in terms of facility value were
classified as easy items, in terms of discriminating power were classified as
satisfactory items, and in terms of the effectiveness of options and answer keys
that were categorized as poor items. It showed that the quality of English
summative test for the tenth gradde students of SMAN 64 Cipayung Raya East
Jakarta in the second semester of the 2015/2016 academic years was not good in
terms of facility value, the discrimination power, and the effectiveness of
distracters.
