The objective of the study was to know the evidence whether or not the
content of the English summative test for the first semester of the tenth grade
students of SMA PKP Jakarta Islamic School in the 2016/2017 academic year was
valid.
In this research, the writer used the descriptive comparative method. The
writer compared the set of English summative test with the number of required
items in the syllabus that used in teaching and learning activities. The instruments
were in the forms checklists arranged based on materials and objectives in
syllabus of the 2013 Curriculum. The materials and objectives of each language
skills were identified and arranged into the lists. They are changed into the
questions as instrument. From the analysis, the writer found that English
summative test administered on SMA PKP Jakarta Islamic School was in line
with the content of syllabus.
Then, the percentage of the materials in oral and written indicators were
75%, the social function was 60%, the utterances was 62.5%, the language
features was 36.84% and the sub materials of topic was 38,89%. Then, the
indicator of reading skill was 100% and the indicator of writing skill was 50%.
Therefore, the calculation of all percentage is 60.47%. Based on Arikunto’s
statement, it showed that the content validity of the English summative test for the
first semester of the tenth grade students of SMA PKP Jakarta Islamic School in
the 2016/2017 academic year is sufficiently valid.
