The research was done aiming to find the empirical evidence for determining whether the face of the teacher-made English summative test for the tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 East Tebet had been valid or not based on the criteria of face validity. The object of the research is the teacher-made English summative test given to the tenth grade students of the the school. There are 40 items of the test. All the items are multiple choice. The descriptive qualitative has been used as the method of this research to find out the conformity of the test based on the criteria of face validity. For this investigation, the writer used checklist, analyses based on the nine criteria of face validity and editing the errors with symbol and the final way is revising and editing the whole test. The result of the analysis showed that there was 32 items that need to edit it means 80% from the items test. There was inappropriate for the layout of the test, some of the items were unclear and careless in typing and there were too many items were needed to revise. It means the test that was analyzed in this research indicated that it was not in line with the criteria of face validity.
