The objective of the study was to find an empirical evidence of whether or not the reading exercises developed in Bring me to the World of a Professional Worker English textbook for the eleventh grade students of vocational high school were based on the Communicative Reading Competences. The object of the study was the reading exercises in the Bring me to the World of a Professional Worker English textbook for the eleventh grade students of vocational high school written by Nanan Suryana and published by ARMICO Press. The method of the study was descriptive comparative analysis. The instrument of the study was checklist in a table containing a number of 8 reading sub skills required by the Communicative Reading Competence. The limitation of the study the writer used eight reading sub skills as directive to analyze.
After analyzing the reading exercises of the textbook, the writer found that the reading exercise in the textbook were in line with Communicative Reading Competences. The result showed percentage of the reading sub skills based on the Communicative Reading Competence in the reading exercises was 100%.
According to Arikunto‟s classification, 100% can be categorized as a good exercises. It can be concluded that the reading exercises in the Bring me to the World of a Professional Worker English textbook for the eleventh grade of vocational high school has been conformity in line with the Communicative Reading Competences. The benefits of the study result that the textbook can be used in the teaching learning activities as a source especially for reading exercises and the teacher can be increased with others sources, such as from CD‟s, workbook and internet in order to improve their knowledge.
