The objective of the study is to know the quality of English Summative test item especially for the students of the first semester of the tenth grade of SMPN 257 Jakarta, and to identify the test items which are needed to be accepted, revised, and rejected.
The methods used in this research are quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. Quantitative analysis is used to find the data of facility value, discriminating power, and distractors scores. Meanwhile, qualitative analysis is used to describe the quality and the weakness of the items. The sample of this research is the eighth grade students of SMPN 257 Jakarta that consist of 92 students which are devided into 2 classes.
From the findings of the research, the writer concludes that the English summative test for the eighth grade students of SMPN 257 Jakarta in the second semester of the 2015/2016 academic year is poor because there are 36 items can be accepted, 7 items must be rejected, and 7 items that must be revised.
