The objective of the research is to find the empirical evidence of whether or not there is a significant relationship between students’ learning motivation and their writing skill at the tenth grade students of MA Ummul Quro Al-Islami Bogor in the 2016/2017 academic year.
The research used survey method with correlation technique. The population of the research is the tenth grade students of MA Ummul Quro Al-Islami Bogor and the writer took one class that consists of 30 students for the object of the research. The writer took the data by giving two tests. The instrument of the research was distributing the questionnaires and the test of writing in descriptive writing test. The writer used Pearson Product Moment to know the relationship between two variables in this research. The first variable (Independent) is the students’ learning motivation and the second variable is (Dependent) is their writing skill.
According to the result of the analysis and statistical calculation, it is found that ro is 0,509 and rt is 0,349. Because ro is higher than rt, it means that Ho is rejected and Hi is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between students’ learning motivation and their writing skill of the tenth grade students of MA Ummul Quro Al-Islami Bogor in 2016/2017 academic year.
