The objectives of the study were to find out the empirical evidence the English Summative Test for the second semester on the eleventh grade students of SMAN 18 Jakarta has been constructed with good items and to identify the test items, which were needed to be maintained, revised, or discarded. The methods used in this research were descriptive quantitative and qualitative method. Quantitative method was used for analyzing the facility value, discriminating power and the effectiveness of distracter of each item. Meanwhile, the qualitative method was used for describing the quality and the weakness of the items. The writer took 64 students‟ answer sheet as the data; then, the writer ranked the students from the highest to the lowest score, and took 27% from the highest score as the upper group and 27% from the lowest score as the lower group. Each group consisted of 18 respondents.
The finding of the research showed that in terms of facility value: 17 items in the test (48.6%) were classified as easy items, in terms of discriminating power: 13 items in the test (37.1%) were classified as good items, and in terms of the effectiveness of options and answer key: 16 answer keys (45.7%) that were categorized as effective and the effectiveness of distractors: 59 distractors (42.1%) that were categorized as effective. It showed that the quality of English summative test for the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 18 Jakarta in the second semester of the 2015/2016 academic years was good enough in terms of facility value, the discriminating power, and the effectiveness of options.
