The objective of the study was to find the empirical evidence of the most typical of errors, and the sources of errors which were made by the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Jakarta. The population of the research was the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Jakarta. It consisted of 36 students, but when the writer took the data, there were only 25 students that present in the class. The writer used a purposive cluster sampling technique to get the samples. The method is used in this study is a descriptive analytical method. The writer administered a guided task on descriptive writing. Moreover, to differentiate error and mistake, the writer asked the students to do the same task on different day. The students wrote paragraphs based on the instruction which is given by the writer. After getting the data, the writer analyzed the error based on grammatical aspects. From the calculation, the writer found that the highest typical error of MAN 2 Jakarta in their writing is in add a word with 59 errors or 22.43% and the lowest typical error is word form and in incomplete sentence 0%. The highest typical error happened because the students still did not understand how to make a good sentence. They are still inferred with their mother tongue. Students still had lack of vocabulary in making sentence.
