The objectives of this study are to know the quality of the English summative test for the eighth grade students at SMPN 3 Bekasi in the first semester based on the quality of the items and to identify the test items which needed to be accepted, revised, and rejected. The respondent of this research were 84 students taken from two classes of the eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Bekasi. The writer took only 27% (23 students) from the highest score as the upper group and 27% (23 students) from the lowest score as the lower group. The methods used in this research are quantitative and qualitative analysis method. Quantitative analysis used to find the data of difficulty level, discriminating power and the effectiveness of the distracters. Meanwhile, qualitative analysis is used to describe the quality and the weakness of the items test. Based on the analysis of this research, the English summative test which was administered at SMPN 3 Bekasi, can be categorized in general as a good test. Because from 48 items, there are 39 items which are accepted, 3 items are discarded, and 6 items should be revised. The proportion of this item test is 20% easy: 71% medium: 8% difficult.
