This is a pre-experimental research which is aimed to find out the effectiveness of using animation movie on students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade students. The research was conducted in one class of the tenth grade, the class used as the sample is class of technical drawing of building 1 which consists of 29 students. It was held on April 2016 for eight meetings at the second semester of 2015-2016 academic years. The results of the research were as follows; first, from the calculation of pre-test and post-test average score, variance and standard deviation, the score t-observation (to) was 9.43. Second, on the 0.05 significance level and with df n-1=28 the score t-table (tt) was 1.70. It appears to > tt (9.43 > 1.70). It means that H0 hypothesis is rejected, otherwise the Hi hypothesis is accepted. Based on the research findings of the research it can be concluded that using animation movie in teaching speaking is effective for the tenth grade students. Benefits of the research result are by using animation movie the students could be more confident to speak with others because they have interesting content that make the students interested to retell the animation movie with their own sentences. Therefore they will be easier to make their own visualization with the movies which they have watched. However, it will be better if a language teacher gives many chances to practice in the classroom along with interesting media.
