The objective of this research was to know whether or not the contents of an English textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris are in line with an English syllabus of the 2013 curriculum for the tenth grade students at SMKN 22 East Jakarta.
The methods used in this research is descriptive-comparative analysis. The method belongs to a kind of qualitative method. Descriptive comparative analysis was used to compare an English textbook with an English syllabus of the 2013 curriculum.
After comparing and analyzing the data, the writer found the total number precentage of language skills which are required in the 2013 curriculum consisting of the learning objectives, the learning materials and the learning activities are 36%. It can be interpreted by Arikunto‟s scheme of conformity level as “bad” category. In other words, the contents of textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris published by the Department of National Education are not in line the syllabus of the 2013 curriculum.
The writer gave some suggessions to English teachers, first the textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris for the tenth grade students of senior high schools can not be used as a main source of instructional material to achieve the objective of teaching–learning process. Second, the teachers can modify the textbook by combining the learning material from other textbooks and media which are appropriate with the curriculum.
